Minimise Stress—Maximise Life! |

|
When we choose to take ourselves on a journey of self discovery, we can at last truly understand where stress comes from and choose to live a healthier, happier, fulfilled and relaxed life. In this 5 part series I will briefly explain 5 different stress prone thinking patterns that can become stress traps. Identify these stress traps in your life, challenge them and you will be on your way to reducing stress in your life.
Stress Trap 2: Rule Based Thinking When things are going the way we like it isn’t life great? What about when things are not the way we think they should be? Isn’t that stressful?
Many of us live our lives and pin our happiness on self made rules. Rules that try to control reality. But controlling reality is futile and the more we try to manipulate reality, the more stressed we become. These rules can be any thing from:
· You should love me if I am nice to you
· I shouldn't’ t have to put up with bad service.
· I must have this finished today
Rule based thinking involves “all or nothing” thinking. If the situation is not “Just” how we think it should be, within the narrow confines of our rule, what else can we feel but stressed? Unfortunately we have 1000’s of self made rules, which come from our underlying assumptions.
Identifying these rules and underlying assumptions is the first step to freeing yourself from rule based thinking therefore living a life of much less stress.
Look for thoughts such as: · Should Shouldn’t · Must Mustn't · Need Have to
Ask yourself when you hear yourself using these rules: · Is this thought causing me to feel stressed? · Is this thought realistic? · What is a realistic alternative thought.
Watch your stress diminish when you identify and challenge these rules. As with all stress prone thinking patterns they are linked to our underlying assumptions. Being aware of your underlying assumptions will help you identify key areas where stress impacts on your life. During a relaxed approach lifestyle session we identify these assumptions and how they manifest into stress prone thoughts, emotions and behaviours. Help you challenge the stress prone thoughts and guide you toward a healthier, happier stress resilient outlook. Call me today to find out more.

Thank you
I have enjoyed the many workshops and sessions I have presented in 2009. I have met many wonderful people. It is such a gift to help to minimise stress in peoples lives. Improving their wellbeing, happiness and success in all areas.
I have no places available on public workshops for the rest of 2009 and am concentrating on individual work and group workshops. Please contact me if you are interested. A workshop can consist of just 4 people, a group of friends relaxing. What a nice way to catch up before the end of the year.
Before we know it Christmas will be upon us. Put into action your relaxation/meditation plan now to breeze through and thoroughly enjoy the festive season.
Best wishes Elaine Doyle
